Job summary

Atlantic Health System seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist to work under supervision in Newton, NJ. The role includes processing and testing specimens, reporting results, and ensuring quality and safety in a regulated clinical lab environment.

You will operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, maintain documents, and support training for teammates. A strong background in high-complexity testing and laboratory safety is required.

Qualifications

• Must meet CLIA personnel requirements for High Complexity testing.
• One year healthcare or lab-related work experience preferred.
• ASCP, AMT or defined equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Specimen Processing and Accessioning: evaluate specimens and test orders for acceptability.
• Specimen Testing: follow approved standard operating procedures.
• Result Reporting: correlate test results with diagnosis and prior results as applicable.
• Computer Skills: proficient with HIS and LIS in all job-related functions.
• Equipment Operation: operate, maintain and troubleshoot equipment per SOPs.
• Quality Control: follow QC policies and document calibrations and maintenance.
• Proficiency Testing: participate and ensure samples treated like patient samples.
• Inventory Management: rotate stock and check expiration dates.
• Training: assist with training of team members and students.
• Safety: follow Atlantic Health and department safety procedures.
