Job summary

The Christ Hospital Health Network is seeking a detail-oriented Preanalytical Processing Technician to support high-volume specimen handling in a hospital laboratory setting in Cincinnati. You will load samples, hand-receive as needed, and ensure accurate routing to the correct lab benches while solving issues promptly.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's or associate degree in science preferred, but not required.
• Minimum of one year of laboratory experience or six months as Inpatient Phlebotomist at TCHHN required.
• Ability to read and comprehend written information; data entry; strong organization and time management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; teamwork and problem-solving in fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Performs core pre-analytical processing: verify specimens, centrifuge, aliquot, and prioritize stat samples.
• Maintain and troubleshoot department equipment; perform daily, weekly, monthly checks.
• Create transit lists, route samples to reference labs, and manage specimen flow.
• Answer laboratory phones promptly and communicate delays to nursing via EPIC chat.
• Assists in collection/processing of special sample types (urine, CSF, coagulation) per testing rules.
• Coordinate with phlebotomists and technologists; participate in trainings and audits.
