Job summary

The Christ Hospital Health Network in Cincinnati, OH seeks an Inpatient Phlebotomist to support high-volume pre-analytical processing in the clinical laboratory. You will verify specimens, transport to the appropriate benches, and assist nursing units with collection supplies while maintaining safety and accuracy.

You will perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot instruments, manage transit lists, and communicate with nursing and lab staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's or associate degree in science preferred, but not required.
• Minimum of one year of laboratory experience or six months experience as an Inpatient Phlebotomist at The Christ Hospital Health Network required.
• Ability to read and comprehend written information; data entry skills required.
• Superior time management, multitasking, planning and organization skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of basic computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel

Responsibilities

• Performs core pre-analytical processing including collection verification and timely processing.
• Maintains daily, weekly, and monthly equipment checks and housekeeping as assigned.
• Creates transit lists and prepares samples for transit to reference labs.
• Answers lab phones promptly and communicates staffing issues or delays to nursing staff.
• Troubleshoots instrument issues and assists in problem resolution.
• Assists in collection and processing of specimens including bone marrow where applicable.
