Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System in New York, NY seeks a Laboratory Technologist to perform clinical/technical tasks in chemistry and hematology, including coagulation and urinalysis, ensuring accurate results and compliance with policies.

You will maintain instrumentation, perform QC, log records in LIS, review critical values with the supervisor or pathologist, and participate in performance improvement activities, training, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related Science field required.
• NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required.
• At least 1 year experience required.
• ASCP Certification Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates the ability to perform clinical/technical/service/administrative tasks.
• Performs technical procedures in chemistry /hematology including coagulation and urinalysis.
• Performs periodic/scheduled and as needed maintenance on instrumentation/equipment with proper documentation.
• Performs quality control and calibration procedures, verifies in LIS, and logs results.
• Ensures that all required QC and/or calibration procedures are completed and signed off per shift/daily/monthly.
• Maintains records per regulatory requirements (card files, requisitions, LIS docs, statistics).
• Consults with Supervisor or Pathologist on important results and notes sample issues.
• Reviews Critical Test results and communicates to Nursing/Physician; notifies supervisor/pathologist in extreme cases.
• Prioritizes work to meet turnaround times and notifies if delays occur.
• Assists in Inventory Control to ensure supplies and proper storage.
• Participates in other projects/duties as assigned by Supervisor/Lab Management.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related Science field

NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license

ASCP Certification Preferred
