Job summary

MDI Hospital is seeking a Clinical Lab Assistant to collect and process clinical specimens for laboratory testing and to enter data into the EMR. The role supports Health Centers, Wards, ER and Specialty Clinics with test ordering and specimen requirements.

The CLA also serves HIM, Billing, and Revenue Cycle on specimen-related questions and issues, and manages the ABN process at collection. Strong communication and accuracy are essential.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma required.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Two years phlebotomy experience recommended.
• Experience with specimen processing preferred.
• Medical Terminology class helpful.
• Healthcare setting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect and process clinical specimens for laboratory testing.
• Perform data entry in EMR.
• Counsel Health Centers, Wards, ER and clinics on test ordering and specimen requirements.
• Assist HIM, Billing, and Revenue Cycle with questions about charges.
• Manage ABN process at specimen collection.
