Job summary

Kindred Hospital Central Tampa is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Assistant to perform specimen collection, processing, and limited waived testing to support clinical operations. The role collaborates with nurses and laboratory staff to ensure accurate specimen handling and timely results.

The CLA will assist with quality control, maintain a safe work environment, and participate in ongoing education to stay current with laboratory procedures and regulations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a High School diploma or Equivalent.
• State license/registration as required by state.
• Current BLS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verifies test requisitions by comparing information with nursing station log.
• Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and fingersticks.
• Collects specimens and performs preanalytical preparation for testing.
• Performs waived laboratory testing and assists technicians and technologists.
• Maintains quality results by following procedures and logging results.
