Job summary

Atlantic Health is seeking a Clinical Lab Assistant who supports the laboratory workflow and documentation across departments. The role ensures timely specimen processing, proper labeling, and safe, organized operations within a compliant environment.

The CLA will assist with training, monitor equipment and inventory, and use HIS/LIS systems to complete routine tasks while maintaining safety standards and adherence to SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Registers patients and orders tests; verifies patient information for timely processing.
• Prepares specimens; ensures proper labeling, storage, and handling according to guidelines.
• Loads samples; assists with equipment maintenance and operation.
• Maintains clean, organized workspace; troubleshoots basic equipment issues or contacts support.
• Documents temperatures and other quality control data as required.
• Monitors inventory; checks expiration dates and stores items properly.
• Demonstrates proficiency with HIS and LIS software for job-related functions.
• Assists with training of new team members and completes mandatory continuing education.
• Follows PPE protocols and maintains a safe workspace.
• Adheres to approved standard operating procedures and documentation practices.
