Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, IL is seeking a Laboratory Assistant for the Clinical Lab. The position is full-time days (5a-1:30p) with rotating weekends, located at Evanston, IL 60201.

The role focuses on clerical duties, specimen processing, and support for phlebotomy and lab testing, under supervision. Minimum HS diploma, 1 year of lab experience preferred, CPT I/II where required, and current BLS certification on hire.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent is required, plus relevant laboratory training.
• State CPT I/II certification if required by your state.
• Current BLS certification on hire and maintained.

Responsibilities

• Handle clerical duties: data entry, filing, phone work, and patient greeting.
• Demonstrate clear communication and basic knowledge of lab test terminology.
• Assist with phlebotomy and specimen collection across age groups.
• Process specimens for pre-analytic stage and for reference lab as needed.
• Stock supplies and maintain clean storage and work areas.
• Perform instrument maintenance, quality checks, and basic culture work as trained.
