Job summary

North Country Healthcare seeks a Clinical Laboratory Assistant to support the department with technical and non-technical tasks, quality improvement, and LIS order entry. You will also back up histology lead and train phlebotomy staff on waived procedures.

Responsibilities include specimen collection, proper labeling, ensuring supplies, and timely processing of STAT specimens, while delivering strong customer service and maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED; Associate degree preferred.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Proficient in LIS, Excel and Word.
  • Excellent medical terminology knowledge.
  • English speaking and writing skills required.
  • Minimum one year experience as a phlebotomist.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain standing order file and annual updates.
  • Participate in quality improvement and Press Ganey projects and follow up on quality concerns.
  • Perform service recovery and identify solutions for improved customer care.
  • Communicate corrective measures with patients/providers with manager/lead tech.
  • Review fax numbers for outside physicians and initiate corrections.
  • Ensure adequate supplies for blood/specimen collection and proper labeling.
