Job summary

North Country HealthCare, Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Assistant responsible for phlebotomy, specimen processing, registration, and limited laboratory testing. The role requires a high school diploma, with preference for an associate degree and phlebotomy certification.

Experience in phlebotomy and knowledge of medical terminology are desirable. Responsibilities include maintaining patient interactions, documenting orders, and assisting with QA tasks.

Qualifications

• Must have technical aptitude and willingness to learn software used at AVH.

Responsibilities

• Exhibits courteous and cooperative behavior toward patients, families, visitors, volunteers, students, peers, and providers.
• Works collaboratively inside and outside the department to promote performance improvement and timely actions.
• Performs phlebotomy duties and obtains venous and capillary blood specimens.
• Completes paperwork to process specimens (registration, order entry, result entry).
• Transports STAT blood work and alerts Laboratory Technician to STAT testing.
