Job summary

Highpoint Health - Sumner with Ascension Saint Thomas is seeking a Laboratory Assistant for the full-time night shift (7PM-7AM). You will perform phlebotomy, assist with receiving and processing specimens, maintain stock, and handle clerical duties while ensuring safe, aseptic work practices.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, phlebotomy training and at least one year of experience, CPR certification, and ASCP/ASPT eligibility within two years.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior phlebotomy training and minimum of one year phlebotomy experience.
• Heartsaver CPR American Heart Association.
• PBT (ASCP or ASPT) or equivalent obtained within two years of employment, preferred.
• Completes on‑the‑job (OTJ) training for CLA duties.
• Critical thinking and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to perform routine venipuncture and skin puncture.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy duties.
• Assists with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing and transporting specimens.
• Maintains adequate stock of supplies.
• Maintains a safe, aseptic and organized work area.
• Performs clerical duties including answering phones, data entry, and filing.
• Communicates test results to appropriate healthcare providers.
