Job summary

Highpoint Health - Sumner with Ascension Saint Thomas is seeking a Laboratory Assistant (PRN) to support phlebotomy and laboratory workflow. You will assist with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing, and transporting specimens while maintaining stock and a clean work area.

In addition to clerical duties such as phones, data entry and filing, you will communicate test results to healthcare providers as needed, contributing to accurate patient care in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior phlebotomy training and minimum of one year phlebotomy experience.
  • Heartsaver CPR from American Heart Association.
  • PBT (ASCP or ASPT) or equivalent obtained within two years of employment, preferred.
  • Completes on-the-job training for CLA duties.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and ability to work with minimal supervision.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent

Additional requirements include:

  • Prior phlebotomy training and minimum of one (1) year phlebotomy experience.
  • Heartsaver CPR American Heart Association.
  • PBT (ASCP or ASPT) or equivalent obtained within two years of employment, preferred.
  • Completes on-the-job (OTJ) training for CLA duties.
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Ability to perform routine venipuncture and skin puncture.
