Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• An approved nationally accredited training course in Phlebotomy is preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) to be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with laboratory staff on collection, receipt, and processing of specimens in inpatient, outpatient, and outreach locations.
• Interact with patients, physicians, nurses, and hospital staff in a courteous, professional manner.
• Ensure proper collection of specimens following laboratory procedures and patient comfort.
• Follow hospital guidelines for Standard Precautions (PPE, gloves, hand hygiene).
• Identify patients using two identifiers and label specimens correctly.
• Select appropriate collection supplies and devices for venipuncture, arterial, or capillary punctures per procedures.
