Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services invites applications for a Clinical Laboratory Assistant to perform phlebotomy and related collection duties. The role includes specimen processing, testing at waived or moderate complexity levels, and providing general support to clinical floor staff.

A high school diploma or GED with nine months of phlebotomy experience is required; ASCP certification is preferred and BLS is required at hire.

Qualifications

• HS/GED or equivalent; nine months of phlebotomy experience.
• Preference for PBT (ASCP) or equivalent certification.
• BLS required at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and other collection procedures according to procedures.
• Performs specialized collection procedures such as urine drug collections and PPDs.
• Processes requisitions and enters test orders; manages specimen transport and labeling.
• Receives, processes and stores specimens; centrifuges, aliquots and stabilizes as needed.
• Performs waived and moderate complexity testing with trained competency.
• Maintains routine equipment and performs calibrations when required.
• Orders and maintains supplies and inventory; ensures regulatory compliance.
• Assists clinical staff with stocking, cleaning, patient transport and other tasks.
