The Animal Resource Program (ARP) seeks a Clinical Lab Animal Veterinarian to join its team. The ARP is the primary unit providing care for all animals used in research and teaching at UAB and affiliated hospitals. It operates under the authority of the UAB President, managed by the Associate Vice President for Research Facilities and Infrastructure, and reports to the Vice President for Research. The ARP oversees approximately 215,000 square feet of laboratory animal care space.
This role involves providing clinical and surgical medical care for various research animals, supporting health surveillance and preventative medicine programs, training departmental personnel and research staff, reviewing animal use requests for compliance, supervising veterinary staff, providing emergency care, and contributing to the laboratory animal care and use programs, including research, grant writing, and SOP development. The environment is dynamic and collaborative, ideal for professionals passionate about laboratory animal care and research.
Salary Range: $109,250 - $177,530
Qualifications include a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, two years of related experience or completion of a related training program, and current credentialing as an ACLAM Diplomate or similar. Alabama Veterinary License must be obtained within two years of hire.
