Job summary

Fairview Health Services is seeking a Pharmacy-IS liaison to coordinate between IS, Pharmacy Services, and Epic applications for medication management within Fairview's inpatient system. You will help design, implement, and maintain the electronic medication orders process in EPIC and related systems.

The role requires a Pharm.D. with MN licensure, and experience with EPIC, Medispan, and automated dispensing systems.

Qualifications

• Pharm.D. degree required and MN pharmacist license.
• Minimum 2 years as an inpatient pharmacist or 4 years ambulatory experience when applicable.
• Strong knowledge of inpatient pharmacy processes, clinical drug therapy, and customer relations.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support EPIC for medication management initiatives.
• Coordinate with user representatives to develop task plans and schedules; perform system testing.
• Monitor system performance and coordinate vendor support; document issues and resolutions.
• Develop and participate in training plans and curricula for end users.
• Serve as first point of contact for pharmacy information system issues; participate in on-call rotations.
• Deliver care that accounts for patient development level and cultural differences.

Job description

Job Overview

Work as a liaison between IS, Pharmacy Services, third party vendors, and Fairview organizational Epic applications to incorporate medication management initiatives into Fairview's inpatient clinical information system (EPIC) and further support successful design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the electronic medication orders process.

Responsibilities

• Supports successful design, implementation and support of EPIC. Coordinate with key user representatives to develop project task plans, timelines, and schedules. Coordinate and perform system testing and develop and monitor measurements of process improvements identified in system solutions.
• Incorporates medication management initiatives into Fairview’s inpatient clinical information system. Apply standards of practice (clinical policies, regulatory requirements, etc.) to system requirements design, and configuration to support best practice including: sharing responsibility for ongoing support of Pharmacy and IS software applications including EPIC, Medispan, and Automated Drug Dispensing Systems (ADDS), provide on-site support as needed, and identify system requirements in base clinical areas.
• Act as a liaison with staff, management and other customer groups to ensure successful implementation and ongoing success. Assist in the development of training plans, course curriculum, and participates in training classes. Act as first point of contact/resource for end users for issues related to pharmacy information systems. Monitors system performance, liaison with application vendors, document problems and resolutions, and implement escalation procedures where appropriate. Shares on call responsibilities.
• Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population serve.

Required Qualifications

• Pharm.D. Degree
• 2 years As an inpatient pharmacist or four years as an ambulatory pharmacist when applicable.
• Strong understanding of the inpatient pharmacy medication process, basic computer skills, clinical knowledge related to drug therapy, strong customer service and relationship building skills.
• Current MN Licensure as a Pharmacist.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency with standard office automation including ACCESS, EXCEL, MS Project
• Work and build experience with Epic
• Epic Willow Certification within 1 year, if not already gotten and maintained.
• Beacon Certification

The posted pay range is for a 40-hour workweek (1.0 FTE). The actual rate of pay offered within this range may depend on several factors, such as FTE, skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions.
