Job summary

Wayne County Hospital Inc. is seeking an IT-focused Health Informatics professional to design, test, and maintain EHR and billing apps that support registration, coding, and collections.

You will partner with clinical, financial, and HIM teams to fix workflow bottlenecks, drive revenue integrity, and build informative financial reports. Strong data analysis and HIPAA compliance are essential, with training responsibilities for upgrades and user support.

• System Configuration: Design, test, and maintain EHR and billing applications to support registration, coding, and collections.
• Workflow Optimization: Partner with clinical, financial, and health information management (HIM) teams to fix workflow bottlenecks and improve revenue integrity.
• Data Analysis & Reporting: Build financial reports and analyze data metrics to track billing accuracy, reimbursement cycles, and denial trends.
• Training & Support: Serve as the subject matter expert for software upgrades, troubleshooting, and user training.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in health informatics, Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, preferred.
• Experience: 3 to 5+ years working in healthcare backgrounds such as RN, LPN, CMA, RT, HIM Coding, or clinic/hospital operations and data analytics, or clinical informatics, required.
• Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with major healthcare platforms, database systems, and data analysis methods. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Word, along with the ability to create reports, analyze data, and communicate effectively using collaboration tools.
• Certifications (Preferred): Clinical certification or degree.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written ability to bridge the gap between technical and nontechnical teams. Work closely with providers, nurses, ancillary departments, leadership, external partners so strong relationship building and communication skills are essential.
• Problem-Solving: Analytical capability to evaluate system errors, optimize layouts, and streamline user experience.
• Must understand HIPAA regulations and privacy of patient information.
• Mandatory Reporting certification required within 6 months of hire
• Must pass background check, physical, drug screen, and TB Test upon hire. Flu vaccine and COVID vaccine or religious/medical exemption are required
