Job summary

Wayne County Hospital Inc. in Corydon, IA is seeking a Health Informatics / IT professional to design, test, and maintain EHR and billing applications, supporting registration, coding, and visit documentation.

You will collaborate with clinical, financial, and HIM teams to optimize workflows, build financial reports, analyze billing metrics, and provide training and support for software upgrades and user adoption.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in health informatics, IT, healthcare administration or related field.
• 3–5+ years in healthcare plus data analytics or clinical informatics.
• Proficiency with major healthcare platforms and Excel/Office.
• Must understand HIPAA and privacy of patient information.

Description

• System Configuration: Design, test, and maintain EHR and billing applications to support registration, coding, collections, visit documentation, and ordering.
• Workflow Optimization: Partner with clinical, financial, and health information management (HIM) teams to fix workflow bottlenecks and improve clinical documentation and revenue integrity.
• Data Analysis & Reporting: Build financial reports and analyze data metrics to track billing accuracy, reimbursement cycles, denial trends, and clinical quality metric reporting.
• Training & Support: Serve as the subject matter expert for software upgrades, troubleshooting, and user training.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in health informatics, Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, preferred.
• Experience: 3 to 5+ years working in healthcare backgrounds such as RN, LPN, CMA, RT, HIM Coding, or clinic/hospital operations and data analytics, or clinical informatics, required.
• Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with major healthcare platforms, database systems, and data analysis methods. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Word, along with the ability to create reports, analyze data, and communicate effectively using collaboration tools.
• Certifications (Preferred): Clinical certification or degree.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written ability to bridge the gap between technical and nontechnical teams. Work closely with providers, nurses, ancillary departments, leadership, external partners so strong relationship building and communication skills are essential.
• Problem-Solving: Analytical capability to evaluate system errors, optimize layouts, and streamline user experience.
• Must understand HIPAA regulations and privacy of patient information.
• Mandatory Reporting certification required within 6 months of hire
• Must pass background check, physical, drug screen, and TB Test upon hire. Flu vaccine and COVID vaccine or religious/medical exemption are required.
