Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) is required.
MSN or related field is preferred.
Master's Degree for Level 4 NICU, Labor & Delivery, Post-Partum and Antenatal is required.
3+ years of clinical experience in pediatric or critical care/ED.
Experience with education, teaching in a clinical setting is required.

A Brief Overview

As the only Level 1 Trauma PICU in Northeast Ohio, we are currently offering challenging and rewarding employment opportunities within our Pediatric ICU!

Our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) isa 20 bed combined medical-surgical unit which cares for more than 1600 critically ill children each year.When a child is transferred to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital’s team of caring pediatric team isavailable to provide the highest level ofexpert critical care in Northeast Ohio. This includes care and treatment for traumatic injuries, critical illnesses, and for children recovering fromsurgery. We also treat children referred from the emergency department and other pediatric divisions.

Some of the conditions we treat include:

Life-threatening traumatic injuries
Complications of cancer or blood disorders
Liver or kidney failure
Rare, cancerous tumors
Serious or rare forms of any childhood disease
Viral or bacterial infections, including severe cases of meningitis or pneumonia

The clinical educator provides and evaluates clinical education for licensed and unlicensed staff on all shifts and facilitates evidenced-based practice.

What You Will Do

Collaborates with unit leadership to ensure staff competency upon hire and annually.
Supports leadership by facilitating staff’s adherence to accreditation standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Exhibits leadership skills and ability to coach and develop staff to maintain and promote quality and affect change.
Works collaboratively with the Department of Nursing Education and Professional Development to identify learning needs, develop and implement educational strategies, and participate in learning effectiveness evaluation.
Adheres to the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics and the Standards of Practice in Nursing Professional Development roles established by the Association of Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) to include: Educator, Consultant, Researcher, Facilitator, Change Agent, and Leader.
Provides patient care as required.

Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Education

(BSN) Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Required)
(MSN) Master's Degree in Nursing or related field (Preferred)
Master's Degree for Level 4 NICU, Labor &Delivery, Post-Partum and Antenatal (Required)

Work Experience

3+ years clinical experience (Required) in a pediatric or Critical Care/ED environment
Experience with education, teaching in clinical setting (Required)

Licenses and Certifications

Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License (Required) and
Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (Preferred)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (Preferred)
Certification in a specialty clinical area or nursing professional development (Required within 1 Year)
