Job summary

UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital in Cleveland, OH, seeks a Nursing Education Professional Development specialist to advance PICU staff competency and care quality.

You will collaborate with unit leadership, coach staff, assess learning needs, and align education with ANA standards and codes of ethics. This on-site role focuses on developing educational strategies and ensuring PHI privacy.

Qualifications

• Must hold nursing license and current credentials.

A Brief Overview

As the only Level 1 Trauma PICU in Northeast Ohio, we are currently offering challenging and rewarding employment opportunities within our Pediatric ICU! Our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)isa 20 bed combined medical-surgical unit which cares for more than 1600 critically ill children each year.When a child is transferred to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital's team of caring pediatric team isavailable to provide the highest level ofexpert critical care in Northeast Ohio. This includes care and treatment for traumatic injuries, critical illnesses, and for children recovering fromsurgery. We also treat children referred from the emergency department and other pediatric divisions.

Some Of The Conditions We Treat Include

• Life-threatening traumatic injuries
• Complications of cancer or blood disorders
• Diabetic ketoacidosis
• Liver or kidney failure
• Poisonings
• Rare, cancerous tumors
• Serious or rare forms of any childhood disease
• Severe asthma attack
• Viral or bacterial infections, including severe cases of meningitis or pneumonia

What You Will Do

• Collaborates with unit leadership to ensure staff competency upon hire and annually.
• Supports leadership by facilitating staff's adherence to accreditation standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Exhibits leadership skills and ability to coach and develop staff to maintain and promote quality and affect change.
• Works collaboratively with the Department of Nursing Education and Professional Development to identify learning needs, develop and implement educational strategies, and participate in learning effectiveness evaluation.
• Adheres to the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics and the Standards of Practice in Nursing Professional Development roles established by the Association of Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) to include: Educator, Consultant, Researcher, Facilitator, Change Agent, and Leader.
• Provides patient care as required.
