Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Clinical Documentation Improvement Registered Nurse Advisor (CDI RNA) to lead quality care initiatives through CDI processes, enhancing veterans' health outcomes.

The CDI RNA collaborates with physicians, APRNs, PAs, and HIM/VERA staff to ensure accurate documentation and coding, and to support education across the team at Martinsburg VA Medical Center and related clinics.

Qualifications

• English language proficiency is required.
• State nursing licensure upon bridge program completion or equivalent is considered.
• Foreign nursing education requires degree equivalency validation.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with physicians, APPs, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure accurate reflection of illness severity in the medical record.
• Perform clinical reviews in inpatient and outpatient CDI areas at Martinsburg VA Medical Center and offsite CBOCs.
• Provide education and coding guidance to staff to support a comprehensive CDI program.

Education

Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by ACEN or CCNE

Current - full - active - and unrestricted nursing license in a U.S. state or territory

Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS and Joint Commission standards
