Job summary

Yale School of Medicine - Genetics is seeking a Clinical Technologist 1 to perform chromosome studies in a high-volume CLIA-certified Cytogenetics lab. You will handle pre-analytic to post-analytic steps, ensure sample traceability, and maintain strict safety and quality practices across diverse specimen types.

Responsibilities include culture setup, harvesting, slide preparation, banding, and karyotype analysis of constitutional and acquired abnormalities.

Qualifications

  • Four years of related work experience, two of them in the same job family at the next lower level, and a high school level education; or two years of related work experience and an Associate's degree; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

Responsibilities

  • Perform clinical chromosome analyses, including karyotyping and banding according to SOPs.
  • Process specimens and maintain traceability and documentation in worksheets/LIMS.
  • Set up cultures, harvest cells, and prepare slides for microscopic analysis.
  • Operate imaging systems and perform quality checks on assays.
  • Contribute to procedural updates and training as needed.
