Job Title: Clinical Counselor (Residential/Detox)

Status: Full-time

Workdays and Hours: Flexible schedule — 4-day or 5-day work week, Friday-Monday or Thursday-Sunday, with shifts of 8 or 10 hours, from 8am-4:30pm or 8am-6:30pm.

Position Overview:

Seeking a dedicated Clinical Counselor to provide high-quality counseling services focusing on substance use and mental health treatment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Provide counseling services according to guidelines.
  2. Inform clients about benefits and community resources.
  3. Monitor signs of intoxication and withdrawal; manage treatment of these conditions.
  4. Provide crisis interventions as needed.
  5. Ensure linkage to necessary services, including evaluations.
  6. Complete psychosocial assessments and evaluate client behaviors.
  7. Consult with disciplinary teams on client health.
  8. Develop and monitor individualized treatment plans.
  9. Facilitate client admissions, transitions, and discharges.
  10. Submit service authorizations when needed.
  11. Maintain documentation in electronic records.
  12. Manage client caseload from entry to discharge.
  13. Conduct individual and group therapy sessions, including psychoeducation and family groups.
  14. Educate and involve family members in recovery processes.
  15. Complete incident reports and participate in QA/QI activities.
  16. Engage in clinical supervision and train interns.
  17. Administer medications as needed, following provider orders.
  18. Complete UDS screenings as required.
  19. Adhere to professional standards and regulations.
  20. Other duties as assigned.
Education and Training Required:
  • Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field approved by NCASPPB.
License/Certification Required:
  • Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) required.
  • Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) or LCMHC-A, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or LCSW-A preferred.
  • Dual licenses are a plus.
Experience:
  • Minimum two years of counseling experience.
  • Experience in substance use disorder and mental health preferred.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Valid NC or SC Driver’s License.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor and work ethic.
