Qualifications

Job Title & Specialty Area: Clinical Liaison

Department: Clinical Support Programs

Location: Remote

Shift: Part time - 20 hours per week (weekday evenings from 4 PM to 9 PM, and daytime hours from 7 AM to 5 PM on weekends)

Hybrid schedule: Days on weekends and evenings during the week

Summary

Registered nurses in this role operate independently and as part of a team to manage incoming calls from after-hours nurse advice lines, referring providers, internal staff, and other stakeholders. They possess high customer service skills and extensive knowledge of clinical systems and EMRs to support clinical integration. The nurse's clinical expertise enables efficient assessment of patient acuity, care pathways, and communication among referring providers, ED attending physicians, and clinical staff. They facilitate communication before, during, and after ED visits to ensure continuity of care, acting as a clinical contact point for external providers. This role enhances communication and satisfaction for referring physicians and supports the Physician Relations/Provider Services/Professional Services departments.

Responsibilities
  • Handle all incoming calls from referring providers, internal or external, and families accessing the nurse advice line. Document intake information per guidelines.
  • Monitor referral processes for the ED at Legacy and Dallas, verify bed requests, and notify PCPs of patient admission status.
  • Maintain communication with patients and families during ED visits to improve coordination between patients, ED, and referring physicians.
  • Investigate complaints from primary care and referring physicians, and coordinate ED service issues.
  • Engage in professional development and stay informed about hospital and community practices.
  • May require travel to physicians' offices in North Texas.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of clinical experience required
  • At least 3 years in emergency triage with pediatrics and/or adults preferred
  • At least 5 years in telephone triage preferred
  • Critical care nursing experience considered if combined with ED triage experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related science preferred; associate degree with 3+ years pediatric emergency experience required

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Current Texas RN license required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire required
  • Additional certifications like CEN, CPEN, bilingual skills are preferred
