Qualifications

• Three (3) years of extensive diagnosis and procedural coding experience.
• CPC certification or RHIT registration.
• Ability to review and abstract documentation for correct coding.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding standards.

Responsibilities

• Reviews documentation in the medical record to determine ICD-10 CM and CPT-4 coding for billing compliance.
• Verifies data in the medical record and abstracts pertinent information for charge entry.
• Uses CPT-4 and ICD-10 coding standards to assign principal procedures and diagnoses.
• Edits unbilled claim transmission reports to ensure accurate and timely billing.
• Participates in quality coding and audits; assists providers with coding questions.
