UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL, is seeking a Medical Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join the core chemistry laboratory team. This role supports high-volume testing and exposes you to specialized assays, using advanced instrumentation in a leading academic medical center.

Two pathways for qualification are described, with a 12-month NAACLS-accredited internship or an MT route, plus ASCP/AMT certification within 13 months and BLS training as required.

Qualifications

• Two pathways for qualification exist; work experience cannot substitute education under either pathway.
• Requires 12-month internship in Medical Technology program approved by NAACLS or MT with AMT/ASCP certification.
• ASCP or AMT certification must be obtained within 13 months from date of hire.
• BLS from AHA may be required within 30 days from hire depending on patient care performed.

Responsabilités

• Perform, check accuracy and report results of routine and complex laboratory procedures on body tissues, fluids and other substances.
• Assist supervisor/team lead with evaluating new instruments/methods, reagent prep, quality control, troubleshooting and equipment maintenance.
• Assist team lead with apheresis procedures, bone marrows, coordinating educational sessions, computer operations and quality control/improvement activities.
