Job summary

UVM Health - Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital is seeking a Clinical Assistant to support the patient care team on Medical/Surgical and Progressive Care units. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, Clinical Assistants record vitals, assist with tests and specimen collection, and help patients with daily living activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; ability to read, write and comprehend medical terminology.
• Past nurse aide experience or completion of nurse aide training; PLA competency-based training acceptable.
• AHA-BLS within 6 months of hire or current non-AHA-BLS card accepted until renewal.
• Competency to perform Heimlich Maneuver.
• Positive communication skills; ability to work under pressure and prioritize.
• Basic computer skills; ability to use hospital systems.
• Pre-employment screening and physical exam clearance.
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Patient Care: under RN direction, provide responsive, service-oriented care.
• Testing: conduct patient tests and specimen collection as directed by RN.
• Clerical: front-door unit communication and clerical support.
