Clinical Adjunct Instructor (Psychology)

Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The Department of Psychology is responsible for teaching GEC courses in Psychology. The department also houses degree programs in English, Foreign Languages and Interdisciplinary Studies.

Primary Purpose of Position

To teach Graduate level clinical courses and clinical related undergraduate courses. Hold office hours for planning, grading, and meeting with students.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Psychology Adjunct faculty with an emphasis on classroom management and service to the department.
  • Computer knowledge and willingness to train mandatory. Use of University tools such as Canvas required.
  • Ability to communicate with students necessary and expected.
  • PhD or PsyD in psychology required. Must be licensed, practicing in North Carolina, and willing to supervise Practicum students.
  • Teaching experience at the graduate or undergraduate level preferred, along with lesson-planning and class-management skills.
  • Familiarity with Canvas platform preferable.
  • Testing knowledge of and/or experience with various assessments (personality, cognitive, neuropsychological, psychoeducational) and report writing required.
  • Therapeutic experience with and/or knowledge of various paradigms (psychodynamic therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, Adlerian therapy, Gestalt therapy, Existential therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Family Therapy) highly recommended.
  • Familiarity with writing treatment plans and progress notes desired.
Minimum Education/Experience

PhD or PsyD in Psychology or related field.

Licenses or Certification Required

Licensed, practicing in North Carolina, and willing to supervise Practicum students.
