The Counseling and Higher Education Department is located in the School of Education. It houses graduate counseling programs that prepare professionals in settings ranging from schools to hospitals. Programs include career counseling; school counseling; clinical mental health counseling; counseling, counselor education and supervision (Ed.D); and higher education administration.
Teaching campus and online classes in the counselor education program, student advisement, supervision of practicum and internship, participation in school and university service, and scholarly activities.
Candidates will possess an earned doctorate from a CACREP accredited Counselor Education and Supervision Program from a regionally accredited institution. Candidates must demonstrate potential for effective teaching in counselor education at the graduate level; research and service; and activity in appropriate professional societies. Strong interpersonal skills, strong identity as a counselor educator, and excellent organizational and communication skills are expected.
Doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP approved program, licensed professional counselor supervisor (or eligibility) in North Carolina. Preference will be given to candidates with successful university teaching experience including online education, advisement, internship supervision, and CACREP accreditation involvement.
