Job summary

University of Alabama at Birmingham in Cooper Green is seeking an experienced RN to provide direct and indirect patient care in a clinic setting. You will take vitals, perform EKGs and specimen collection, prepare exam rooms, and document patient data in the EHR.

The position requires an RN license for Alabama, CPR/BLS certification, and two years of clinical nursing experience (one year in the same clinic preferred). It is an onsite day shift with a salary range of $26.52–$42.54 per hour.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Registered Nursing Program is required.
• Current RN license or license by endorsement by the Alabama Board of Nursing is required.
• Current CPR/BLS certification via AHA or Red Cross is required.
• Two years of clinical nursing experience required; one year in same clinic preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in providing nursing care; stocks and maintains exam rooms; sets up rooms for procedures.
• Interviews patients to obtain health history; documents in the EHR; reviews medications and allergies.
• Administers medications per provider’s orders (oral, injections, topical, etc.).
• Educates patients and families per protocol and scope of practice.
• Performs chart reviews and assists with pre-visit planning; monitors patient outcomes between visits.
• Participates in medication reviews with the team and may mentor students.
• Provides coverage across departments to maintain staffing and quality care.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
