Job summary

UAB Medicine's Cooper Green clinic is seeking an RN (Primary Care II) to provide comprehensive nursing care under supervision, including vital sign assessment, patient education, and coordination of clinic workflows. The role involves direct and indirect care, with emphasis on safety and adherence to policies.

The position requires an RN license in Alabama, CPR/BLS certification, and at least two years of clinical nursing experience, ideally in a primary care setting.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Registered Nursing Program is required.
• Currently licensed or licensed by endorsement as an RN by the Alabama Board of Nursing is required.
• Current CPR/BLS certification via the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required.
• Two (2) years of clinical nursing experience required; 1 year in same clinic specialty preferred; experience may not substitute for education/license requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assists in providing direct and indirect nursing care and maintains exam rooms per provider orders.
• Takes and records patient vitals, performs EKGs, urine dipsticks, pregnancy tests or other point-of-care tasks.
• Documents health history, updates EHR, and records medications and allergies.
• Administers medications as ordered and educates patients and families per protocol.
• Performs chart reviews, pre-visit planning, and monitors patient outcomes between PCP visits.
