Job summary

Hilo Benioff Medical Center is seeking a Clinic Receptionist I to be the first point of contact for patients, ensuring a welcoming and organized clinic experience. You will support patients and clinical staff to maintain high-quality outpatient care.

Responsibilities include greeting patients, verifying insurance, scheduling visits, processing payments, and maintaining accurate records, with opportunities to assist with referrals and clerical tasks across HHSC East Hawaii Region.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Two years of clerical or administrative work with office procedures, customer service and basic computer skills.
• Typing: 40 words per minute with accuracy (preferred).
• Substitution: An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree may substitute for all general experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet and register patients, verify insurance, and ensure required documentation is complete.
• Schedule appointments, send reminders, and communicate pre-visit instructions.
• Prepare patient charts, verify authorizations, and coordinate referrals and transfers.
• Answer and manage incoming calls, relay messages, and assist with inquiries.
• Collect payments, issue receipts, and discuss financial options when needed.
• Maintain patient records and assist with general clerical tasks.
