Job summary

Allina Health is seeking a patient access and scheduling support professional to serve as a liaison for patients, families, providers, and staff across scheduling and service questions.

In this role you will coordinate appointments, assist with billing requests such as price estimates, and document patient interactions in the EMR. The position emphasizes accuracy, empathy, and teamwork in a busy care setting.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older with education/experience as listed in the job description.
• 2+ years experience in healthcare or customer service roles preferred.
• 2+ years experience with basic medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Scheduling & Access Support: coordinate appointments and scheduling.
• Patient & Staff Support: assist with access, billing, and service questions.
• Issue Resolution & Documentation: resolve patient concerns and document interactions in EMR.
• Additional Responsibilities: may complete prior authorizations and referrals.
• Other duties as assigned.

Key Position Details

• 1.0 FTE (80 hours per two-week pay period)
• 8-hour day shift
• No weekend rotation

Job Description

Provides patient access and scheduling support for new and established patients and serves as a liaison for patients, families, providers, and staff regarding access and service related questions.

Principle Responsibilities

• Scheduling & Access Support
  • Provides scheduling support and coordination of appointments.
  • Schedules appointments for services within or outside of the system, following established guidelines.
  • Coordinates required services, medical records, and relevant patient information, including education materials.
• Patient & Staff Support
  • Functions as an in clinic resource for patients, families, providers, and staff related to scheduling, billing, and service questions.
  • Processes incoming calls and correspondence related to access, billing, or service inquiries.
  • Facilitates billing related requests such as price estimates or itemized statements.
• Issue Resolution & Documentation
  • Provides first resolution for patient complaints and access concerns.
  • Assists with patient account updates, including demographics and insurance information.
  • Documents patient interactions accurately in the electronic medical record.
• Additional Responsibilities
  • May complete prior authorizations, referrals, specialty scheduling, and manage assigned work queues.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Vocational or Technical Training from a healthcare program
• 2+ years experience in healthcare or other customer service position
• 2+ years experience of basic medical terminology experience

Physical Demands

• Sedentary:
• Lifting weight up to 10 lbs. occasionally, negligible weight frequently

Pay Range

Pay Range: $22.04 to $30.01 per hour

The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
