Job summary

Children’s National Medical Center seeks a Clinic Operations Representative to provide patient services and administrative support at the Northern Virginia Clinics. You will handle scheduling, registration, and insurance verification, ensuring accuracy and courteous service for families in a fast-paced clinic environment.

Responsibilities include collecting demographics, assisting with referrals and pre-authorizations, and maintaining smooth patient flow across multiple clinics.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year experience in billing, patient registration, scheduling, medical insurance verification, and insurance screening.
• Broad clinic knowledge with strong customer service; proficient computer skills; MS Office (Word & Excel) preferred; typing 35 words per minute required.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patients using the department's scheduling system with accuracy.
• Complete online registration with parent/guardian in a courteous manner.
• Collect demographic and insurance information; update systems per department standards.
• Reschedule no-shows and cancellations; arrange follow-up appointments at checkout.
• Greet patients/parents courteously and enter them into the correct system.
• Obtain required consents and distribute HIPAA/privacy materials as applicable.
• Collect insurance cards and photo IDs; ensure copies are filed in the medical record.
• Respond to patient portal work lists (appointments, faxes, emails).
• Verify insurance eligibility and prior authorizations as required; inform parents of referrals.
