Job summary

PAWS Chicago is seeking an Assistant Manager, Clinic Support to back the Practice Manager in day-to-day operations of a high-volume spay/neuter clinic. You will lead floor operations, enforce protocols, support staff training, and help maintain safety, quality, and team culture.

This role acts as an operational extender, handles real-time problem solving, scheduling, and coverage, and serves as acting Manager when needed to ensure continuity of care and smooth workflow.

Qualifications

• CVT credential preferred.
• 2–4 years of clinical experience in a veterinary setting.
• Experience in training or mentoring veterinary staff preferred.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Familiarity with Shelter Medicine and high-volume clinic environments is a plus.
• Proficiency with training tools and technology.
• Ability to work Sundays; ensure coverage for surgery days.

Responsibilities

• Support daily staffing and on-floor coverage for technicians and assistants.
• Monitor patient flow and adjust workflows for efficiency.
• Act as on-floor resource during clinic hours.
• Assist with onboarding and training of staff.
• Support scheduling, attendance tracking, and shift coverage.
• Model professionalism and clinic expectations.
• Identify emerging leaders and training needs.
