Job summary

Kroger is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support daily clinic operations and patient flow. You will handle front-desk tasks, register patients, verify identities, and guide waiting customers while maintaining HIPAA compliance and accurate EHR documentation.

You will also assist with vital signs, insurance data, payments, and coordination of care across provider teams in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Basic computer skills.
• Excellent administrative, communication, and organizational skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining a safe, quality-driven environment per Joint Commission Accreditation.
• Greet customers in the front area or near the clinic.
• Clean and organize the clinic space daily and disinfect equipment.
• Answer questions following HIPAA guidelines; consult with the provider when needed.
• Utilize the queue, appointment tools, and patient kiosk to manage waiting room flow.
• Complete the registration process and place the patient under the provider's scheduler.
• Verify patient identity using government-issued ID.
• Determine payment method and collect payments; log in the EHR.
• Collect insurance information and log it in the EHR.
• Escort patient to exam room and note chief complaint.
• Obtain vital signs and patient history and enter data into the EHR.
• Provide guidance to waiting patients about registration, wait times, and services.
• Answer phones, respond to questions, and perform daily callbacks per policy.
• Participate in off-site events as needed.
• Prepare weekly orders for provider approval; prepare packages and specimens for shipping.
• If float: travel to designated clinics within a geographic area.
• Advanced PCTs may assist with specimen collection under protocol.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without accommodation.
