Job summary

Bowling Green State University is seeking an on-site Climbing Wall staff member to assist with wall operations, maintenance, and events, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for climbers. The role includes belay orientation, opening/closing duties, and supervision of activities.

The position requires CPR/First Aid/AED certifications, ability to teach belay/wall orientation, and strong communication and teamwork skills. Training and student development opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Possess CPR, First Aid and AED certifications.
• Able to teach belay and wall orientation classes (knot tying, correct belay technique, etc.).
• Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication, professional demeanor, and a friendly attitude.

Responsibilities

• Open Climbing Wall, monitor activities, administer belay and orientation tests, and close the Climbing Wall.
• Maintain a safe and positive Climbing Wall operation and identify and correct unsafe actions concerning patrons.
• Inspect Climbing Wall equipment, report conditions, and address equipment issues to administration.
• Participate in route-setting sessions with other staff.
• Operate various computer applications.
• Enforce rules and regulations of the Climbing Wall.
• Attend mandatory staff meetings and trainings.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
