Job summary

Florence County is seeking a Climbing Wall Attendant to support the Recreation Supervisor with daily operations of the climbing wall, ensuring safe climbing and belaying practices. The role emphasizes safety, customer service, and program information for participants.

The attendant will monitor climbing activity, demonstrate proper techniques, assist with equipment setup and wall maintenance, and contribute to a clean, safe environment around the climbing area.

Qualifications

• Climbing and belaying experience preferred.
• Good customer service and communication skills.
• Be current in, or able to pass, CPR/AED/First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Monitors participants climbing activity to ensure safety policies are followed.
• Teaches and models safe climbing practices and techniques.
• Provides a welcoming and customer service-oriented environment for staff and participants.
• Follows opening, on-shift and closing procedures.
• Assists with equipment and provides guidance to improve climbing skills.
• Inspects climbing wall, area and equipment daily and maintains gear.
• Sets up belay anchors and climbing routes as needed.
• Supervises non-climbers to ensure safety around the climbing wall.
