Job summary

Florence County is hiring a Climbing Wall Attendant to assist the Recreation Supervisor with daily operations of the Climbing Wall, ensuring safe climbing and belaying practices. You will monitor participants, teach safety techniques, provide customer service, and help manage equipment and routes.

You will conduct daily inspections, set up anchor systems, supervise non-climbers, and maintain a clean, safe environment within the climbing area and storage room, supporting group events as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Climbing and belaying experience preferred.
• Awareness of safety concerns and risk management involved with climbing.
• Good customer service and communication skills.
• Be current in, or ability to pass upon hire, CPR/AED/First Aid certification course.

Responsibilities

• Monitor climbing activity to ensure safety policies are followed.
• Teach and model safe belay and climbing practices.
• Provide welcoming customer service for staff and participants.
• Open, on-shift and closing procedures compliance.
• Inform participants about climbing programs and routes.
• Assist with equipment and advise on climbing technique.
• Inspect wall, area, and equipment daily; maintain gear.
• Set up and take down anchor systems; set routes.
• Supervise non-climbers around the wall.
• Maintain a clean and safe climbing area and storage.
