Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Fort Collins, CO is offering a Summer 2027 Arborist Trainee Internship. This on-site program is temporary and full-time, designed for college students to gain hands-on field experience in tree care, plant health care, and client services.

You will learn climbing, pruning, removal, cabling and related safety practices while supporting a tree crew, with opportunities for advancement in our employee-owned company culture. Compensation is $22 per hour plus benefits.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Preferred: pesticide and related licenses/certificates as required by state law

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and work safely as part of a crew
• Perform tree pruning and removal tasks under supervision
• Identify trees and follow pruning guidelines
• Learn to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment including chainsaws and chippers
