Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a dynamic Climbing Arborist to perform tree trimming and removal on-site at locations including Dulles, VA. The role offers a competitive pay range and a $2,000 sign-on bonus for qualified applicants, with bonus paid in monthly increments.

You’ll climb and prune trees, operate equipment safely, collaborate with a ground crew and foreman, and help ensure the health and safety of trees and surrounding areas.

Qualifications

• Outdoor work preferred.
• Climbing and arborist skills required or encouraged.
• First aid/CPR and defensive driving courses recommended on hire.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS systems.
• Work with ground crew and foreman as part of a team.
• Perform pruning and removal to maintain client trees safely.
• Install cables, bracing, and lightning protection as needed.
• Operate and maintain tools and equipment such as chainsaws and lifts.

Position Overview

Pay range $26.-$42/ hour

$2,000.00 SIGN ON BONUS FOR QUALIFIED APPLICANT

Bonus paid in increments to include $500 the first month and $500 each consecutive month

Trim and remove trees, remove unwanted, diseased or dying limbs on trees, or to affect the health and safety of trees or surrounding areas by performing the following duties.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• How high you grow depends on you!
• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and foreman.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Including but not limited to:
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey first aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
