Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Hicksville, NY is seeking a Trimmer to support our greenspace maintenance teams. This on-site role involves trimming and removing trees, pruning, and using climbing systems to access branches.

You will work with a crew, follow safety protocols and operate equipment such as chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts. The position offers opportunities for advancement within a large, employee-owned company.

Qualifications

• Outdoor work is required and preferred.
• Forestry, horticulture, or landscaping background is helpful.
• Must complete Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation on hire.
• CPR/First Aid and defensive driving training on hire.
• Licenses or certificates for pesticides may be required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS systems as trained.
• Work with ground crew and crew leader as an active team member.
• Perform pruning and removal safely and skillfully for clients.

$25 - $30 Hourly (based on experience and certifications)

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Including but not limited to:
  • Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
  • Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
  • Removal of hazardous trees
  • Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
