Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a Trimmer to work on-site in Hicksville, NY. You will join a team performing pruning and removal of trees, using climbing systems and maintained equipment, with focus on safety and quality service.

Ideal candidates love the outdoors and have relevant background in forestry or landscaping, with required orientation and safety trainings provided upon hire.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights preferred.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred pesticide licenses/certificates if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Work as an active crew member with ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform tree pruning and removal safely and skillfully for clients.
• Maintain, prepare and operate tools and equipment including chainsaws and chippers.

Position Overview

Trimand removetrees, remove unwanted,diseased or dying limbs on trees, or to affect the health and safety of trees or surrounding areasby performing the following duties.

Compensation

$25 - $30 Hourly (based on experience and certifications)

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Including but not limited to:
  • Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
  • Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
  • Removal of hazardous trees
  • Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.
