Job summary

Davey Tree Surgery Co. seeks a dynamic utility tree climber to join our outdoor team. You will climb, prune and remove trees for utility providers, maintain equipment, and work closely with a foreperson and ground crew in an on-site setting.

Position requires outdoor enthusiasm, a valid driver’s license, and completion of safety and CPR/First Aid training upon hire. CDL and pesticide licenses are a plus; travel up to 25% may be involved.

Qualifications

• Love of outdoors and physical outdoor work.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete First Aid, CPR and defensive driving courses upon hire.
• Required: valid driver’s license.
• Preferred: CDL-Class A or B with Airbrake Endorsement.
• Preferred: line clearance experience or related tree work.
• Preferred: pesticide licenses or certificates if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees and perform pruning and removal services for major electric utility providers.
• Prune treetops and remove damaged limbs around utilities, roofs, and structures.
• Remove broken limbs and ensure safety of crew and equipment.
• Apply tree identification knowledge and pruning guidelines.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment such as chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
• Collaborate with ground crew and foreperson as an active team member.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
• Pruning treetops and repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
• Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
• Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and foreperson

Qualifications
