Job summary

Davey Tree Surgery Co. seeks a dynamic Utility Tree Trimmer to perform tree pruning and removal for major electric utilities. This role is on-site in Jacksonville, FL, with climbing using DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS systems and daily use of chainsaws, chippers, and lifts.

Applicants should love the outdoors, have a valid driver’s license, and complete safety and first aid trainings on hire. CDL may be preferred; pesticide licenses may be required by state law.

Qualifications

• Must love the outdoors and be able to complete orientation and safety trainings on hire.
• Valid driver’s license is required; CDL may be preferred depending on role.
• Preferred: CDL Class A/B with airbrake endorsement.
• Preferred: line clearance experience or related tree work.
• Preferred: pesticide licenses/certificates as required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS systems.
• Perform pruning and removal for utility providers.
• Prune treetops and repair damaged trees, remove broken limbs from lines and structures.
• Identify trees and apply industry pruning guidelines.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, lifts).
• Work as part of a crew with foreperson and ground crew.

Position Overview

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
• Pruning treetops and repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
• Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
• Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and foreperson

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Required: valid driver’s license
• Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B with Airbrake Endorsement
• Preferred: line clearance experience or other related tree work
• Preferred: relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
