Job summary

Washington State Department of Commerce is seeking a Climate Operations Team Supervisor to lead the Climate & Ecosystem Section's efforts in implementing GMA climate laws and managing grant programs. This role directs climate planning, rulemaking, and plan reviews across the state.

The position requires extensive supervisory experience, strong policy and regulatory skills, and the ability to coordinate with local governments, agencies, and stakeholders. Remote/hybrid scheduling may be available.

Qualifications

• Eight (8) years of combined experience and/or education as described.
• Minimum of one year of supervisory or management experience.
• Knowledge of the Washington State Planning Enabling Act, Growth Management Act, State Environmental Policy Act, and Shoreline Management Act.
• Experience coordinating with public officials and departments.

Responsibilities

• Oversee program management tasks for climate planning and GMA compliance.
• Lead staff supervision, hiring processes, training, and performance evaluation.
• Oversee contract development and ensure compliance with statutes and rules.
• Coordinate rulemaking activity and administrative procedures.
• Coordinate plan review and reporting of program performance data.
• Develop administrative procedures and staff resources.
