Job summary

State of Washington invites applications for the Climate Operations Team Supervisor (COM 5) within the Climate & Ecosystem Section. The role oversees climate planning grant programs, rulemaking, and plan adoption statewide, guiding staff and coordinating with local governments.

The position requires eight years of combined experience or education in planning, with supervisory experience and preferred AICP qualifications.

Qualifications

• Eight (8) years of combined experience and/or education in Community, Trade, or Economic Development with focus on local or regional planning.
• Experience working in two or more of Washington’s planning areas including local government coordination, data analysis, and policy review.
• Minimum of one year supervisory or management experience.
• Preferred: AICP certification or ability to obtain within two years.

Responsibilities

• Oversee climate planning grant programs, rulemaking, and GMA climate law implementation.
• Lead and supervise the Climate Operations Team and manage staff performance.
• Oversee contract development and grant program operations in compliance with state rules.
• Coordinate plan reviews, reporting, and executive summaries for management and the Governor’s office.
