Job summary

Womens Center Of East Texas Inc is seeking a caring professional to provide client-centered and trauma-informed care for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors. You will respond to a 24-hour hotline, assist with safety planning, and coordinate referrals across WCET service areas.

Responsibilities include crisis intervention, documentation, data entry, and supporting outreach and shelter coordination.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or combination of social services experience and education preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Experience in social/human services or administrative work required.

Job description

Position Summary and Primary DutiesUnder the direction of the Program Manager and oversight of WCET and its funders, provide client-centered and trauma informed care, including advocating and promoting public awareness regarding domestic violence and sexual assault.Essential Duties· Answer and respond to 24-hour hotline offering safety planning, problem solving, resources, and assistance with client’s immediate needs.· Utilize active listening skills and quality telephone crisis intervention and complete the necessary documentation.· Identify and address the needs of domestic violence and sexual assault survivors for support services in the service area.· Assist with office tasks such as data entry, office upkeep, client purchases, client closet supplies, SOS kits, and other administrative duties assigned.· Assist with ordering, organizing, and managing the Rotary Resource Room.· Design and maintain breakroom calendar display, including staff birthdays and special events.· Coordinate and distribute birthday recognition gifts for staff.· Determine shelter eligibility and/or the immediate needs of caller including, but not limited to law enforcement, MHMR, CPS, APS, etc. or other appropriate referral.· Schedule outreach appointments for the soonest available time. Ensure appointments are scheduled with the appropriate outreach office and advocate, and that the advocate has been notified.· Arrange and/or provide emergency transportation for eligible callers to access shelter services.· Provide SANE on-call coverage in accordance with on-call guidelines when scheduled.· Complete required paperwork and data entries by the next business day to document services provided.· Continually improve skills/knowledge related to job duties by attending appropriate workshops, seminars, trainings, and conferences as directed by the Director of Programs.· Participate in Sexual Assault & Domestic Violence Awareness month’s activities and promotion of public awareness issues related to sexual assault and domestic violence.· Comply with standards issued by WCET and its funders.· Model healthy and positive relationships within the agency and other community partners to ensure optimal utilization of resources and efficient management of the program.· Develop and maintain relationships with organizations, agencies, and other referral resources that provide services to victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault.· Attend and participate in agency staff meetings and other agency functions.· Check work email every business day and provide timely responses.· Some evenings and weekends are required.· All other duties as assigned.What we offer you:Competitive salaryHealth insurance, including an employee only plan that requires no contribution to the insurance premium.Dental, vision, and supplemental optionsPaid $25,000 Life and AD&D insurance policyRetirement match planVacation and sick time offPaid holidaysMinimum Qualifications· Experience in the field of social/human services or administrative work required.· Bachelor’s Degree in related field or combination of social services experience and education preferred.· Bilingual preferred.· Compassionate and client focused.· Ability to perform phone and computer functions (e.g. MS Office, data software, etc).· Strong verbal and written communication skills.· Team player.· Ability to travel to all counties within WCET service area.· Ability to work occasional nights and weekends, as needed.
