VCA Animal Specialty & Emergency Center in West Los Angeles is seeking a friendly, client-focused veterinary receptionist to support clients and patients during busy, high-stress times.

You will greet clients, manage phones and messages, schedule appointments, explain fees, educate on care, and handle records and payments. This role requires empathy, strong communication, and teamwork; weekend and evening shifts are part of the schedule.

Qualifikationen

• 3+ years of experience in client service
• Previous experience in the medical field a plus
• Experience in veterinary medicine, specialty medicine experience a plus
• Compassion for pets and people
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can manage under pressure
• Exceptional communication skills required

Aufgaben

• Greet clients in person or over the phone.
• Answer telephones, texts, emails, WOOFware and Teams messages.
• Check in patients and schedule/confirm appointments.
• Minimal assisting with patient handling.
• Present and explain fees regarding treatment plans and invoicing.
• Educate clients on medical vs non-medical pet care.
• Obtain patient records for appointments and manage electronic medical records.
• Confirm appointments and electronic payments are received.
• Demonstrate listening and communication skills with management, doctors and clients.
• Attend webinars/continuing education to acquire new skills.

What this job entails...

Works with team to ensure the clients and patients are supported and cared for. Skills needed will be staff and client relations, communication, high emotional intelligence, and compassion for pets and people. Some responsibilities will be:

• Efficiently and effectively greeting clients in person or over the phone
• Answering telephones, texts, emails, WOOFware and Teams messages
• Checking in patients, as well as scheduling and confirming appointments.
• Minimal assisting with patient handling
• Presenting and explaining fees regarding treatment plans and invoicing.
• Answering questions regarding products and services, including educating clients on medical vs non-medical pet care.
• Offering clients alternate payment methods
• Obtaining patient records for appointments.
• Managing electronic medical records, reports and correspondences
• Confirming appointments, medical records and electronic payments are received.
• Demonstrate the desire to continue learning in veterinary administration with an emphasis on customer service.
• Demonstrate quality decision-making skills to choose the most appropriate course of action.
• Acquire and maintain excellent listening and communication skills with those around you, including management, doctors, clients, and associates.
• Attend webinars and other continuing education opportunities to acquire knowledge and new skills.

Current Part Time Position Needs: 8 hr shifts

Friday/Saturday: 9:00 am - 5:30 pm

Friday/Saturday/Sunday: Swing: Shift varies between 11am-11pm

Friday/Saturday /Sunday Overnight: 8:00 pm- 4:30 am

Experience / Education:

• 3+ years of experience in client service
• Previous experience in the medical field a plus
• Experience in veterinary medicine, specialty medicine experience a plus

Compensation and Benefits

VCA Animal Hospitals offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, including Medical insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, pet care discounts, health and well-being programs that provide resources and training. Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The pay range for this position is $ 20.00 - $ 25.00 per hour.
