Job summary

AZX is seeking an ML Engineer who builds ML systems directly inside client environments. Your work starts with the client's data spread across multiple systems, and ends with a model running on a schedule inside their environment.

You will wear many hats as part of a small team (DevOps, infrastructure, frontend/backend) because you are the engineering face of AZX to your client, delivering measurable impact.

Qualifications

• 5+ years shipping ML to production with defendable evaluation.
• Strong data engineering skills to handle large data without a dedicated team.
• Rigorous validation: chrono splits, walk-forward validation, as-of correctness.
• Software engineering: Python, SQL, tests, Docker, scheduler, API surface, monitoring.
• Client-facing: run discovery, demos, push back clearly with alternatives.
• Judgment about ML applicability to client problems.
• Fluency with Python 3.12+ stack and time-series tooling.
• Ability to expose results via FastAPI and React/TS, with Docker and cloud basics.
• Active collaboration with data IT teams and clients.
• Domain experience in Energy/Utilities/Real Estate is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the ML delivery lifecycle from data discovery to deployment in client environments.
• Build forecasting and detection models robust to real-world data quality issues.
• Backtest and defend model accuracy and precision/recall tradeoffs.
• Design systems to distinguish no prediction from wrong prediction for end users.
• Ship usable capabilities: FastAPI service, React surface, scheduled jobs.
• Measure baselines and KPIs, instrument monitoring, and provide post-deployment readouts.
• Maintain client-facing engineering presence with discovery and demos.
